In January 22 to 23, CNPC held a meeting on improving drill speed. The meeting proposed that efficient measures should be taken to speed up drilling rate, accelerate integrated application of drilling techniques and promote horizontal, underbalanced and gas drilling.

In the year of 2007, the group completed 806 horizontal wells and 155 underbalanced wells, with an increase of 34.33% and 10.7% respectively on the annual plan. Rig service efficiency was 11% higher than that of the same period of last year.

In 2008, we plan to boost our horizontal wells to or exceeding 1,000 and underbalanced wells to more than 200. We will alsomanage to enhance both rig service efficiency and drilling workload by 10%.
